CI Social in Reading -- 28 September

From Katherine Cooley:

Another CI group is hosting a social in Reading on Saturday 28 September from 2:30 to 4:30pm -- you are all welcome to come along! This social is being held at Wild Lime Bar & Grill which is an easy walk from Reading train station. (Wild Lime, 12-14 Friar Street, Reading, Berkshire RG1 1DB)

I attended the first social that Michele Chemaly hosted in February of this year -- it was a great opportunity to meet veteran CI users and other candidates, especially those from other CI centres as well as Southmead. I enjoyed sharing stories and appreciate the encouragement I received to make it through tough days with my new CI! I will be going again on the 28th, hope to see you there! For more information including a .pdf event flyer, see the CI South West FB page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cisouthwest/

CI South West Social -- Sunday 11 August

2pm-5pm at Colston Yard, Bristol

We'll be meeting up at Colston Yard pub (near Bristol Royal Infirmary and close to the centre of Bristol and bus stops). We held our first gathering here, and it was a nice quiet pub, easy to relax and chat. Inclined folks may go out to dinner afterwards.

Please do let us know if you may be able to join us on the 11th, and we'll be looking out for you! Family and friends are welcome to come along too.

What is CI South West?

CI South West is a social group made up of Cochlear Implant (CI) users and candidates in the South West of England, including those who received their CI at Southmead/BRI Hospitals in Bristol, UK.

The main purpose of this group is to provide an opportunity for CI users and candidates in the South West to meet each other, ask questions and share experiences. Partners and friends are welcome too.

We plan to organise CI social events in Bristol, Exeter, and Taunton (and also elsewhere in the South West if there is demand).

A secondary purpose of this group is to share information and experiences about Southmead/BRI surgical and audiology units.

We welcome people from a wide variety of backgrounds -- whether you are born deaf, late deafened, sign or don't sign or a bit of both. All CI makes are welcome (Advanced Bionics, Cochlear, Med-El and undecided). We look forward to hearing more from you!

We can also be contacted on cisouthwest@yahoo.co.uk
